Execute Case- Overview

AIO Tests allows you to execute cases that are added to a cycle with the click of a button. Whether you want to edit the cases added to a cycle or want to change the execution status of the cases in the cycles, the test management tool lets you do it with ease from the cycle execution tab.

In this documentation, you’ll understand:

Cases Grid and Visible Information

On the Cycle execution view, you can view the list of all the cases that are added to the cycle for execution. It also provides a lot of information related to the cases added to the cycle such as Case key, title name, assignee name, defects, case status, comments, attachments, and the number of runs associated with each case.

Cases Grid Actions

AIO Tests allow users to view information and perform different actions on the cases grid, such as edit cases, remove cases, view case details, and many more

Case Details: AIO Tests allows users to view the case details on the cycle execution page. To view case details, all you need to do is click on the Case Details button (i) along with the title name (displayed by hovering over a case row). Once you click on the Case Details button, a right-side panel window will open up with some quick details of the case. Users have the option to open the case in a new window by clicking on the new tab icon and can view the steps by clicking on the View Steps button on the right-side panel.

If a case was updated after it was added to the cycle, a message will appear on the panel informing users about the availability of a newer version. A version will be created when the title, steps, estimated effort, preconditions or description of the case are updated. To see the updated changes in the cycle, the user will need to ‘Add Run’ (discussed in detail here). If the latest version is not in the cycle, an icon also appears to the left of the case key in the grid.

  • Edit Case: AIO Tests lets users edit the case from the Cycle execution screen. To edit the test case, simply click on the pencil icon next to the case key (displayed by hovering over a case row). Once you click on the pencil icon, the cases tab will open in edit mode. Make the appropriate changes that you want to make in the cases detail or steps screen and click on the Save/Save & Close button.

Once a case is updated, users can choose if they want to update the existing run or create a new run.

  • Remove Case: Users can also remove the cases that are no longer needed from the Cycle Execution screen. To remove a case, all you need to do is click on the Remove Case button. Once you click on the Remove Case button, the Confirm modal window will be displayed on the screen. Click on the Remove button.

  • Add Run: It shows the number of runs associated with each case. AIO Tests allows users to execute the same case in the same cycle multiple times. While a user updates the case, they have the option to update the existing run or create a new run. To add a run for the case, click on the Add run button. Once you click on the Add run button, the Add New Run modal window will appear on the screen. Finally, click on the Add button.

Users also have the option to use the latest case version and copy the run results and values from the previous run to the new run.

  • Add/Edit Assignee: On AIO Tests, users can change the assignee for the cases that are added in the cycle for execution from the Cycle execution screen. To edit/add the assignee, click on the pencil icon next to the Add run column (displayed by hovering over a case row) and select the name of the assignee from the displayed list.

  • Status: It shows the current execution status of the case. Users have the option to change the execution status of a case. To change the execution status of the case, click on the status that you want to change and select the status from the dropdown menu that you want to set.

  • Defects: By clicking on the Defects icon, users can view all the defects associated with the cases that are added to the cycle.

  • Comments: It shows the comments added by the tester for the cases added to the cycle.

  • Attachments: It shows the files that are attached to the cases added to the cycle.
