AIO MCP Tools

AIO Tests MCP offers a wide array of tools that let you perform a variety of tasks, ranging from creating and updating test cases to managing folders, retrieving schemas, and reviewing version histories of test cases. With these tools, you can effortlessly automate repetitive test management activities, reduce manual effort, and accelerate the overall testing lifecycle.

In this documentation, you’ll understand the steps to use:

Get Project

The Get Project tool allows users to verify whether AIO Tests is enabled for a Jira project and retrieve basic project information such as the project key and project ID.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool (such as ChatGPT or Claude) with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt requesting project information for a Jira project. Once you enter the prompt, the tool will automatically retrieve the project information, including whether AIO Tests is enabled for the project.

Get Test Case Schema

The Get Test Case Schema tool retrieves the complete test case schema configuration for a project, including available fields, custom fields, required fields, priorities, statuses, and allowed values.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt requesting the test case schema for a Jira project. Once you enter the prompt, the schema details, including available fields, required fields, custom fields, and allowed values, will be automatically retrieved.

Search Test Cases

The Search Test Cases tool allows users to search and filter test cases within a project using different criteria such as status, priority, tags, folders, or keywords.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt describing the test cases you want to search for. Once you enter the prompt, the matching test cases will be automatically retrieved and displayed.

Get Test Case

The Get Test Case tool retrieves the complete details of a specific test case, including steps, metadata, tags, folders, requirements, and custom fields.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt specifying the test case details you want to retrieve. Once you enter the prompt, the complete test case details, including steps, tags, folder information, and metadata, will be automatically retrieved.

Get Test Case Versions

The Get Test Case Versions tool retrieves all saved versions of a test case, allowing users to review historical changes and version history.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt requesting the version history of a test case. Once you enter the prompt, all available versions of the test case will be automatically retrieved and displayed.

Create Test Case

The Create Test Case tool allows users to create new test cases in AIO Tests using either Classic or BDD-style test steps.

If no folder is specified during test case creation, the test case will be automatically created in the Not Assigned folder.

Step 1: To create a test case using AIO MCP, simply open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool (such as ChatGPT or Claude) with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter the prompt describing the test cases you want to generate.

Step 2: Once you have entered the prompt, the AI tool will ask you whether you want to create the test case. Click on the Create Test Case button.

Once you click on the Create Test Case button, the cases will be automatically generated and imported into AIO Tests.

Update Test Case

The Update Test Case tool allows users to modify existing test cases by updating steps, metadata, priorities, statuses, tags, or other fields.

Updating a test case using the Update Test Case tool modifies the existing test case and does not create a new version.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt describing the updates you want to make to an existing test case.

Step 2: The Update Test Case tool will analyze the requested changes and ask whether you want to update the test case. Click on the Update Test Case button.

Once you click on the Update Test Case button, the selected test case will be automatically updated in AIO Tests.

Get Folder Hierarchy

The Get Folder Hierarchy tool retrieves the complete folder structure within a project, including parent-child folder relationships and full folder paths.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt requesting the folder hierarchy for a project. Once you enter the prompt, the complete folder hierarchy will be automatically retrieved and displayed.

Create Folder

The Create Folder tool allows users to create new folders within the AIO Tests repository to better organize test cases and test assets.

Step 1: To Create a folder using AIO MCP, open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt describing the folder you want to create. Once you enter the prompt, the folder will be automatically created in the specified location within AIO Tests.

Update Folder

The Update Folder tool allows users to rename folders, move folders to a different location, or update folder descriptions.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt describing the folder changes you want to make.

Step 2: The Update Folder tool will ask whether you want to update the folder. Click on the Update Folder button.

Step 3: Once you click on the Update Folder button, the tool will ask you whether you want to rename that folder. Click on the Update Folder button.

Once you click on the Update Folder button, the folder will be automatically updated with the specified changes.

Get Tags

The Get Tags tool retrieves all available tags configured within a project for use in organizing and filtering test cases.

Step 1: Open your preferred MCP-compatible AI tool with the AIO MCP server configured, and enter a prompt requesting the available tags for a project. Once you enter the prompt, all available tags for the project will be automatically retrieved and displayed.
