Copy Steps from Other Cases

AIO Tests allows users to copy steps from multiple cases to the case they are working on. Users can copy steps from cases of the same project or any other project that they have access to. This helps in saving case creation time.

This article shows how to copy steps from multiple cases to the target case.

Step 1 − Navigate to the Cases tab and click on the key of one of the listed cases in which you want to copy steps. It will open the details page of the case.

Step 2 − Go to the Steps tab and click Edit steps. You will be able to see Copy Steps button under the ellipsis as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 3 − The following modal opens up from where you can apply filters to narrow down the search. More filters can be added too. Users can also change the project using the highlighted project drop-down. All the cases appearing in the dropdown should satisfy both the filter criteria and the search criteria.

For e.g., users can use the search box to search for cases within a particular folder. Select the cases from which you want to copy steps simply by clicking on them from the drop-down.

Step 4 − All the selected cases are displayed along with their steps, from where you can select the step(s) to copy to a case, by selecting the checkbox. If a case needs to be removed from the list, users can click the ‘delete’ button too.

Click on “Copy” to copy the selected steps to the target case.

Note:-

  1. If the case has some linked cases as step, then by default, they will be shown expanded with decimal numberings

  2. Steps having attachments from cases belonging to other projects do not get copied - a notification is shown for the same

  3. Only step level attachments from cases belonging to current project get copied

  4. The order of the copied steps will be same in the target case as in the source case

  5. The serial number of all the steps in the target case will be recalculated to accommodate the addition of new steps

  6. The copied steps will appear immediately after the step against which the copy steps icon was clicked
