Working with Sets
AIO Tests allows grouping of cases from across folders into Sets. A case can be in multiple Sets. This article describes how to utilize Sets and the different actions available on them.
Sets Grid and Actions
Once the sets have been created, they show up in the grid on the Sets tab. The grid shows the Key (unique, system generated), Title, Component and Owner of each set by default. The users have the option of adding additional columns by using the column selector.
The fields Component, Owner, etc. are same as given by user at the time of creation of Set.
Remaining details of the Set, like the cases added to the selected set and their details, can be viewed by clicking on the key link.
Set Actions (on the Grid and via Set Details page) - The following actions are available on right click of each Set row - Open Set in New Tab, Copy Set Link, Edit, Copy, Move To, Delete, Create Cycle and Add to Cycle. Some of these actions are also available from within a set on clicking the ellipsis on top right corner of the set detail page
Open Set in New Tab - AIO Tests offers easier way to open sets in new window for quick navigation. A right click on the set row and click on ‘Open Set in New Tab’. The Set Detail page of the set is opened in the new tab
Copy Set Link - In scenarios where users would like to share the link of a particular set with their business counterparts or put it in comments for review, AIO Tests makes its very easy to achieve that.
There is no need to navigate to a particular set and copy the URL from the browser; users can easily copy the link of a set from the sets listing itself.
A right click on the set row will show the option to “Copy Set Link”. The option to copy the set link is also available on the set detail page as shown below.
Edit - On click of Edit (option available on right click on set row), the Set is opened with the Details tab in Edit mode. The screen has 2 tabs - Details and Cases.
Details- Fields are pre-populated with current values and user has the option to modify them
Cases- User can add more cases to the set in this tab, by clicking Manage Cases ellipsis and selecting “Add existing cases”.
Users can either utilize the search bar (title or key) or use filters (more filters can be added using the highlighted sign as shown below). Users can add cases of other projects by using the project selector drop-down.
By default, only cases in published status are shown. User has the option to select ‘Show non-eligible cases also’ to see cases in all statuses.
Clicking ‘Show previously added cases’ checkbox updates the list to show cases that have been added to the set previously.
Move To - Users can move a set to another folder by clicking right on a set row and selecting ‘Move To’. A pop-up asking for the destination folder name is displayed. Clicking on ‘Ok’ will move the selected set to the specified folder
Delete - A Set can be deleted if no longer in use. This action cannot be reversed
Create Cycle - This action allows to create a cycle from a set wherein all the cases belonging to the set are automatically added to the newly created cycle. On click of this option, Create Cycle window opens where all the set details are duplicated allowing quick creation of cycle
Note: If the case's status, after being added to the set, is modified, then an information message is displayed above the title field, informing about the number of cases which are modified (non-published) and those cases cannot be added to the cycle
To know more about options and the process of creating a cycle, click here.Add to Cycle - This action allows users to add a set of cases to an already existing cycle of the current project or any other project that they have access to. Only published cases of a set will be considered. Clicking on ‘Add to Cycle’ from right click on a the set row shows the add to cycle window. Users can specify the project and the cycle(s) to which the cases of the set have to be added. The cases get added only if they don't already exist in the specified cycle(s)
Quick View (via the Right Side Panel)
Single click on a particular row of the grid to quickly view the details of the Set in the right panel.
The right panel can be closed by clicking the 'X' on top right of the panel. The right panel of a selected set can also be viewed from the Set Details page by clicking on the “i” button as shown in the screenshot below.
Viewing & Managing Cases within a Set
Clicking on the set key link, takes you to Set Details page which shows the list of Cases added to the Set.
If cases of multiple projects have been added to the set and the user doesn’t have access to any one of them, then they will only see the case key in the Set Details page with a notification stating the reason
“Manage Cases” ellipsis on right, gives you options to create a new case, add existing cases to the set being viewed, reorder cases and remove cases from the set.
Create new case - On clicking this, a new Case can be added to the Set. Click here for details on creation of a Case
Add existing cases - On clicking this, a dialog box shows up with a list of published cases (similar to “Add Cases” step while creating a Set). Cases can be added from the current as well as other projects that the user has access to.
Bulk remove cases - By checking the check boxes, you can select cases which you want to remove from the set. Thereafter, you can click “Remove Cases” or “Cancel”. Here we are removing the selected case by clicking “Remove Cases”. A single case can also be removed by simply clicking right on the row of the case
Reorder Cases - Users have the option to specify a order in which the cases should be shown in the set. On clicking ‘Reorder cases’, users can drag and drop the cases in the desired order. Clicking ‘Done’ button will save the specified order. This order is preserved when a cycle is created from a set
Filter, Search and Sort
Filtering, searching and sorting help to quickly view the sets or cases that you are interested in. The functionality is available for Sets grid as well as Cases grid in the Set Details page.
Sorting is possible by clicking on the field headers
If cases of multiple projects have been added to the Set, users can also add the project filter on the Set Details page also shown below.
For further details on search and filters, click here, as these operations work in the same way across the app. For customize columns details, click here.
