Link Cases

In order to promote reusability of cases and having a modular design, AIO Tests offers the ability to link cases as steps of other cases. The action to link cases is available at the time of case creation (Steps page) and also while editing a case (Steps tab).

Draft cases are not available for linking. Only cases with status ‘Under Review’ or ‘Published’ can be linked to other cases.

The image below is of the Steps tab opened in Edit mode and the link case icon is highlighted. The options show up when the three ellipsis against the step are clicked.

To link another case, follow the steps below

  • Click ‘+' to create a new row below the row on which '+’ was clicked

  • Click the link case icon on the newly created row as shown above. A modal opens up which lets you find the case to link and also view steps of the case before linking. You can link cases from other projects as well. The search box is also available to search via key or title

  • Select the case to be linked by clicking on the link icon next to the case

  • Once the case has been selected, it gets added with a “Show Steps” option. Click Show Steps to see the steps of the linked case as shown below. Show Steps becomes Hide Steps once clicked. The steps of the linked case are shown indented to increase readability of the case.

Dataset Based Cases Rules

Cases which have datasets defined cannot be linked to cases and would show the linking button as disabled :

Datasets cannot be added to cases which are already linked to other cases
