AIO Tests allows users to customize the run statuses with the click of a button. On the test management tool, users can add new Run Statuses, edit the existing run statuses, rearrange the order in which the run statuses appear in the AIO Tests, assign the highlight color to run statuses and delete the statuses that are no longer in use or are not applicable for the project or organization.

In this documentation, you’ll understand:

Configuring Run Statuses

On AIO Tests, each run status has a Highlight color, Type and Execution Completed flag associated with it.

  • Highlight color: It is used to assign colors for highlighting the run statuses. Admin can choose any color of their preference for each of the Run Statuses to differentiate between different types of run statuses.

  • Run Status Type: It determines the meaning and behavior of the run status. Run status types are Not Run, In Progress, Passed, Failed, and Blocked.

  • Execution completed flag: It is used in reports to determine the execution of which Case is considered as done in a Cycle. This has a direct impact on reports showing incomplete and done work.

  •  Only Jira/Project admins or designated AIO Admins can take actions on the Run Statuses page. For other users, the page will be shown in a read-only manner.

  • Each project will have its own set of Run Statuses. You can use “Import Settings“ under Project Settings to copy the settings from an existing project where customization is already done.

Steps to Add a New Run Status

Step 1: To add a new run status, simply click on the Gear icon and select the Project Settings option from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Click on the Run Statuses option in the sidebar menu.

Step 3: On the Run Statuses page, click on the Add button.

Step 4: Enter the name of the new run status into the Run Status Name field. Click on the Type field and select the type from the drop-down list.

  • Only Project & Jira Admins (and any AIO Admins) have the ability to add new values for the Run Status field as per their organization’s use.

  • Users also have the option to toggle on/off the Execution Completed flag.

  • Users cannot add a run status with the same name that already exists.

  • Once a run status is created, its type cannot be changed.

  • The execution completed flag can be updated only for the run status of type Failed.

  • The first run status of type NOT RUN will be used as the default status for any new Run created in the Cycles.

Step 5: Finally, click on the Save button.

Once you click on the Save button, the new run status will be displayed on the screen.

Steps to Edit Run Status Name

Step 1: To edit the run status’ name, click on the Pencil icon for the run status that you want to edit and change the run status’ name. Finally, click on the Save button.

  • Run statuses can be renamed. But updated status cannot have the same name that already exists.

  • Execution completed flag can only be updated for FAILED type statuses.

Steps to Reorder Run Statuses

Step 1: To reorder run statuses, all you need to do is click on the Reorder button.

Step 2: Drag and drop the run status using the drag handle icon for the run statuses that you want to rearrange. Once you rearrange the run statuses, click on the Done button.

The order in which the run statuses appear here is the order in which they show in the Status drop-downs in the rest of the app.

Steps to Assign a Color to the Run Status

Step 1: To assign a color to the run status, simply click on the Plus sign (+) for the run status in the Highlight color column to which you want to assign the color.

Step 2: Choose the color of your preference by using any of the three methods and click on the Save button.

  • Users can also enter the HEX code/RGB value to select the color of their preference for Run/ Execution statuses.

  • Users can also view the selected color on a white/black background.

  • Users can also change the highlighted color for the run statuses by clicking on the highlight color arrow button.

  • Users can also delete the highlighted color for the run statuses by clicking on the highlight color arrow button.

  • Once the admin sets the color for the Run/Execution statuses, each user can choose how they want to use the execution status highlight by selecting the desired theme customization option in My Settings.

Steps to Delete a Run Status

Step 1: To delete a run status, click on the Delete button for the run status that you want to delete.

Step 2: Once you click on the Delete button, a confirmation modal window will appear on the screen. Select an alternative run status where you want to move the existing runs in the deleted run status and click on the Delete button.

Once you click on the Delete button, deleted run statuses will be displayed in the right box for some time. Deletion of a run status is done via a batch job that runs every 5 minutes. While the status is marked for deletion, users cannot delete the specified alternative status.

  • At least one run status of type NOT RUN, PASSED and FAILED should be present.

  • While deleting, the selection of alternative status follows the below rules:

    • The run status of type PASSED can be moved only to alternative status having PASSED type.

    • The run status of type FAILED can be moved only to the alternative status having FAILED type.

    • The run status of type NOT RUN / IN PROGRESS / BLOCKED can be moved to any alternative status having NOT RUN / IN PROGRESS / BLOCKED type.
