Folders

Folders provide a way to organize data so that you can easily locate your data. Folders allows to group items by a common attribute - functionality, features, environments, etc.

AIO Tests lets you create a Folder hierarchy (folders & sub-folders) for proper organization of your entities. Folders are available for Cases, Sets and Cycles.

Managing Folders

A user can create a hierarchy for organizing test cases/sets/cycles using folders. Following actions are available for the folder structure - add new folders, rename existing folders, move folders for reorganizing and delete folders that are no longer required. Users can also create/add to a cycle from a Case and Set folder, and create/add to a Set from a Case folder.

• Adding Folders at the Root Level

1. The Folders panel is open when you first start using AIO Tests. If you close it, it will stay closed the next time you are on the tab and if you keep it open, it will stay open. If it is closed, you can open it by clicking the highlighted icon.

2. If folders have been added, they will be alphabetically sorted. The number next to each folder name is the total number of cases in that folder plus the number of cases in all of its sub-folders

3. Click on Add icon from the left panel (highlighted above)

4. Add new folder window shall open asking details about the Parent Folder and Name of the new folder

   1. In the Parent Folder field, by Default “All” (root level) is displayed. Click the folder drop-down to change the parent folder to an user-defined folder

   2. In the Name field (mandatory field), give a name to the folder

5. Click on “Ok” and the folder will be added

• Adding Sub-Folder for a User-Defined Folder

1. Click on the ellipsis (three dots) next to the Folder name and click “New Folder” to get the “Add new folder” window

   1. The Parent folder field is pre-populated with the name of the selected folder

   2. New sub-folder name needs to be entered in the Folder Name field

2. Click on “Ok” to create the new folder as the sub-folder (child) of the selected folder
   
   

    

• Renaming A Folder

1. Click on the ellipsis (three dots) next to the Folder name and click “Rename” to get the “Rename folder” window

   1. Enter a new name for the selected folder in the field

2. Click on “Ok”

   1. Depending on the name provided, the position of the folder in the structure may change (list is alphabetically sorted)

• Moving A Folder

1. Click on ellipsis (three dots) next to the Folder name and click “Move To” to get the “Move folder” window

   1. Select the new parent folder from the folder drop-down (Select All as the destination folder - if you want to move the folder to the root level)

2. Click on “Ok” to move the source folder to the destination folder. The source folder will become a sub-folder (child) of the destination folder

• Deleting a Folder

1. Click on ellipsis (three dots) next to the Folder name and click “Delete” to get the “Delete folder” window

2. Click on “Delete” to delete the selected folder

The Create Cycle and Add to Cycle functionalities, add the cases of the folders to either a new cycle or an existing cycle. Only the cases seen in the folder get added. The Create Set and Add to Set functionalities, add the cases of the folders to either a new set or an existing set. Only the cases seen in the folder get added (same concept as above).

So if the “Sub-folders items included” is not clicked in the below scenario, then only 3 cases will get added (not 6 as the others are not visible in this folder). If the “Sub-folders items included” icon is clicked, then 6 cases will get added to the cycle/set.
