Import Cases from Other AIO Tests Projects

Users can copy test cases belonging to another Jira project in which AIO Tests is enabled to any other project where AIO Tests is enabled. This article describes the steps of this process.

Start the Process

To start the process of copying cases from one project to another, follow the steps below

1. Go to the destination project

2. Click on Import Cases button

3. Click on Other Projects tab

Select Project and Cases to Copy

From the destination project, users need to choose the source project and select cases to be copied.

1. Select the source project from ‘Project Selector’

2. Search & Select cases to be copied using search/filters

3. Click on ‘Select Configuration’ button

In this step, users can specify their import preferences and also choose the target folder in which the cases should be copied.

Once done, they can click on “Select Field Mapping”. They can also go back and update the cases list to be copied. The options presented on the screen are explained below.

1. Select Target Folder: The folder drop-down shows the folder structure of the destination project. If it is left blank/Not Assigned is selected, the folder field will be left blank and cases will be in the Not Assigned folder.

2. Preserve the Folder Hierarchy?:

   1. If selected, the folder structure of the cases to be copied will be re-created in the destination project under the folder selected in the target folder

   2. If selected and if no target folder is specified, the folder structure of the source cases will be created at the root level in the destination project. Please note, in this case, if any source case doesn’t belong to a folder, it will be copied to the Not Assigned folder in the destination project

   3. If not selected, cases will be copied to the specified target folder of the destination project

   4. If not selected and if no target folder is specified, cases will be copied to the the Not Assigned folder of the destination project

3. Deep Copy linked test cases?:

   1. If selected, any linked cases in the source cases that belong to the source project, will also be copied to the destination project and the new case from the destination project will be linked to the copied case.

   2. If selected, any linked cases in the source cases that belong to other projects, will be copied as links to the cases of other project

   3. If not selected, copied cases will have a link to the cases belonging to source project as well as any other project and linked cases won’t be created as a separate case in the destination project

4. Add suffix to copied cases?:

   1. If selected, “ - Copy”, will be added at the end of the title of the copied cases

   2. If not selected, title of the copied cases will be same as the source cases

Field Mapping

If the source project has custom fields, users will be prompted to map them to existing custom fields in the destination project. Once done, users will also get an option to map the data values to values present in the destination project by clicking “Select Data Mapping”.

Data Mapping

Users will be prompted to map values of following fields → Priority, Status, Types, Components, Release, Automation Status and all eligible custom fields.

Once done, users can click “Start Import” to start the copy process.

Viewing the Status of Import & Results

Once the user clicks on “Start Import”, a batch process will be created. The progress of the job can be viewed under the Jobs tab as shown below.
