Understanding Cycle Execution Tab Layout

Cycle Execution tab in the Cycle Details view is the most happening tab. Users can take a lot of different actions on this page apart from executing cases and managing results.

In this documentation, you’ll understand:

Cycle Actions

AIO Tests lets you view cycle-related information and perform some cycle-related actions. On the Cycles execution page, you can close the cycle, copy the cycle link, view cycle details, generate reports, and many more.

  • Close Cycle: By clicking on the Close Cycle icon located at the top right corner of the cycle execution detail page, you can close the existing cycles. Once you click on the Close Cycle icon, the Close Cycle modal window will display on the screen. Click on the Confirm button to close the cycle. Once you click on the Confirm button, a message will be displayed on the screen showing the date on which the cycle has been closed and the user’s name who closed the cycle.

Users can also open the cycle by simply clicking on the Open Cycle icon.

  • Copy Cycle Link: AIO Tests lets users share the direct link to the cycle with other users. To copy the cycle link, all you need to do is click on the Copy Cycle Link icon displayed on the top right corner of the cycle execution detail page.

  • Cycle Details: AIO Tests allows users to view details related to a cycle with ease. To view Cycle details, click on the Cycle detail icon (i) located at the top right corner of the cycle execution detail page. Once you click on the Cycle detail icon, a right-side panel window will open up with some quick details of the cycle. Click on the new tab icon to open the cycle in a new window. Once you click on the new tab icon, the cycle that you selected will open in a new window.

Users can create a plan for the cycle by clicking on the Create Plan Button.

  • Reports: The test management tool allows users to generate reports (Execution Summary, Details, History, and Burndown) specific to a cycle. To generate the reports specific to a cycle, simply click on the Reports icon located at the top right corner of the cycle execution detail page and select the desired type of report that you want to generate from the drop-down menu. Once you click on the desired option, a new window will open in a new window showing the reports.

Status Bar

The Status bar on the Cycle Execution detail page gives a quick overview of the different things happening in the cycle such as cycle’s total Actual Effort logged, assigned testers, and execution statuses

  • Actual Effort: It shows the total time invested by the testers on that particular cycle in the execution process. The below image shows that so far 9hr and 6 min actual effort has been logged.

By hovering over actual effort, users can also view estimated effort along with actual effort.

  • Assigned Testers: The status bar also shows the list of all the testers that are assigned to that particular cycle. The below image shows that 4 testers are assigned to that cycle.

By clicking on the assignee's avatar, users can view the number of cases that are assigned to that particular tester (unclicking the assignee's avatar will show the whole list again).

  • Execution Statuses: The execution statuses show the status of cases in that particular cycle such as passes, failed, blocked, in-progress, and not run. By clicking on the status name, you can view the cases in that particular status. It lets users review particular status cases (unclicking execution status will show the whole list again).

Grouping

The grouping icon on the cycle execution detail page lets users view the cases list grouped by Sets and Folders. Users just need to click on the Group icon and select the Set/Folder option from the drop/down menu.

  • The grouping icon only shows those sets and folders whose cases belong to the cycle.

  • If cases belong to multiple projects, folders are shown under each project name. Since a case can belong to multiple sets, the sets grouping only lists the Set names along with the Set Key.

  • Users can stay in the folder they are in by collapsing the grouping using the double arrow key.
