Execute Case- Defects & Evidence

AIO Tests allows users to create issues encountered during testing and add comments and attachments to it with the click of a button. On this test management tool, users can log defects, review comments can be posted for a Run/Step level, and add evidence to the Run/Step level.

In this documentation, you’ll understand:

Steps to Create Issue from the Cycle Execution Tab

Step 1: To create an issue for a run, click on the carat icon (>) for the case to which you want an issue.

Step 2: Click on the Defects icon at the Run level. Once you click on the Defects icon, you will find a sidebar popup where you need to click on the Create new issue button to create a new bug/defect.

  • Users can also create defects at the Step level.

  • Adding a defect will also be updated in the Overview tab.

Users also have the option to add/link an already-created Jira bug by searching and clicking on the desired issue.

Creating Subtask of a Defect

AIO Tests allows users to create a defect as a Sub-task on any Jira issue. To create a sub-task of a defect, all you need to do is click on the Create new subtask button. Once you click on the Create new subtask button, the Select parent issue modal window will display on the screen. Users can add the subtask either from the search bar by selecting an already-created Jira bug or can selecting the Jira bugs that are displayed on the screen. Once you select the subtask, click on the Create button.

Users can also select the “Sub-task” type ( Subtask or Sub Test Execution) using which the issue should be created in Jira.

Steps to Add Comments

Step 1: To add a comment to a run, click on the carat icon (>) for the case to which you want to add comments.

Users can also add comments at the Step level.

Step 2: Click on the Comments icon at the Run level. Once you click on the Comments icon, you will find a sidebar popup where you need to enter the comments in the given space and tag the users by using the “@” symbol. To learn more about generating email notifications, click here

Users also have the option to select the users to whom the email notification will be sent.

  • User1 (Green) → Indicates users can receive email notifications for new or edited comments in which they were tagged.

  • User2 (Red) → Indicates users cannot receive email notifications due to their email preferences (this can be due to AIO email preferences or if they haven’t made their email address visible to all in Jira account preferences).

  • User3 (Blue) → Indicates users can only receive email notifications when they are mentioned for the first time. If the comment is later edited, then they will not receive a notification. This is controlled by their AIO email preferences. To learn more about AIO email preferences, click here. To notify them again, it is recommended to remove them, save the comments and then re-mention them.

Step 3: Finally, click on the Post button.

Users can also edit and delete the comments that they have created for Run.

Steps to Add Evidence

Step 1: To add evidence for the run, click on the carat icon (>) for the case to which you want to add evidence.

Users can also add comments at the Step level.

Step 2: Click on the Attachments icon at the Run level. Once you click on the Attachments icon, you will find a sidebar popup where you get the two options to attach the evidence:

  • Paste an image from the clipboard using the system shortcut (Control/Command + V): While pasting an image from the clipboard, users can enter a file name also to save the file. If no name is entered, the pasted image gets a system-assigned name.

  • Attach Files: By clicking on the Attach File(s) option, you can attach the evidence. Once you click on the Attach File(s) option, a new window opens up where you can upload the new files from the computer or select the files from recent uploads.

  • Users can download or delete the file from the run/step.

  • The file size should not exceed 100 MB.
